Caked on brake dust, best bet at removal?

I am trying to remove some really old caked on brake dust in the rounded joints of the spokes... I would say the old dust is about half an inch long in various sizes. I searched the forum and wanted to ask if I have the right items to do the job:

P21S wheel cleaner gel
Uber Spoke Brush

The spokes are spaced closed together, and I have ruined some cheap wheel brushes trying to really scrub the dust. So if anyone can recommend an additional brush for tight spaces for old dust needing elbow grease let me know. Or maybe the Uber Spoke Brush is enough?

That sounds good, the gel will stick and work on the dust pack.

I regularly clean my wheels with the P21S Wheel Gel, but you may also need the P21S Finish Restorer to polish some of the more stubborn stains. i typically use a nice microfiber towel or our Sheepskin Wash Mitt for the spokes. I also use the mini E-Z Detail Brush to get into tight spaces.

If you want to protect the wheels in the future I would recommend using the Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant. It prevents brake dust from bonding to the wheel and it keeps wheels looking better for longer.

let the p21s gel dwell on the wheels (make sure the wheels are not hot when you do this, that's with any wheel cleaner)

after you let it sit, then use the uber spoke brush and the uber boar's hair wheel brush to agitate the dirt on the wheels.

for the lugs and the tighter areas pick up a Swissvax Detail Brush to get to the tighter areas.

Everything you need for wheel and tires, P21S, Uber Brushes etc
LMK if you need more info.

Nice. Thanks Phil. Gonna grab a bunch of that stuff. Is online my only method of buying or can I take a run to a local shop? And what sort of life cycle do the spoke and boars hair brush have? Asking to see if I should just get a few now.

So I'm a big fan of the P21S gel, but I'm still not sold on any of the specialty brushes. Why use them over a regular sponge?

It seems like the handles on these brushes also might scratch your rims during cleaning if not careful.

Phil: Can you help me out with why not to go the sponge route? Thanks!
