Whats a good Cleaner for my HRE's
I've had my HRE's for about 3 months now and basically just cleaning them with soap and water. The polished lips are starting to get dull in my eyes at least, anybody got any suggestions for a polish? All I need is to clean the lips, i got black centers.
By the way, if anybody thinks that by getting black wheels, the dirt and dust will not show??? Think again. It shows. It turns your wheels brown if you don't stay on top of it. Try cleaning 441R's. Its not fun.

Best way I've found to keep HREs clean and free of swirls is by putting on a few coats of Zaino, then washing them by hand, I mean your bare hands. Nothing gets around all the little crevices like your fingers. Also prevents swirls because you can feel when there's dirt on your fingers.

As mentioned above, put some type of sealent or wax on the wheels to help make washing easier, but also use some Mothers Incredible Billet Aluminum Polish on the polished lip. This stuff is the best I have found for the soft HRE polish finish (better then p21s, etc). I have found that the HRE are very hard to maintain, but they do look great once clean. Hope this helps.

I saw that Billet Polish by Meguiars on T.V. this weekend, I'll try it this week and see what happens. I guess its the brake dust that make the aluminum dull? I'm also going to try that NXT wax too.

The aluminum will tarnish from being in the environment. I usually polish the lips once every 3 months. If it rains where you are quite a bit, this will accelerate the polishing schedule.

I tried that NXT wax. Its alright. It works. I don't think it looks any different from using my usual Meguiars #7. I also bought some of that Incredible Billet Polish for my wheels. Now that make them a lot brighter. Both of these products work pretty well, its just a lot of work. I'll definetely be using the Billet Polish on a monthly basis.

Thought all painted HRE's have a clear coat? or is that not on the lip?

The lips on HRE are not clearcoated due to chipping and pitting from stones on the road. The center sections are, but all metal or painted lips are not based on HRE's own reccomendations. Hope this helps clarify.
