freaked the gas station guy out...hahah
He then said, Do you know you put diesel in your car?(with a freaked out tone)
I paused for about 5 seconds (didnt say anything) and then turned the key in the benz. She came to life and I was like thanks, its a Diesel...
He was like, "thats a Diesel?" I laughed and said yea... thanks!
and then rode off into the sunset with my Diesel!

Here in AZ, it's penny for penny at most stations same as premium.
At the level of efficiency I am getting on this car, (40 mpg highway), I can pay .75/gal more for Diesel than Supreme (I never price 87 octane), and still break even.. but as I said, Super here cost the same as diesel.
The Bay Area (My home town btw) is whacked out... I never use it for a measure of anything, much less energy costs.
than gas. why is that? in germany diesel is cheaper than
the rest.
Either way, it's about 1/3 the price of diesel in Germany

).. anyway, The powerpoint said, "This is why you're paying $2.50/gal for gas!" .. I can see how you would find us spoiled with this kind of attitude.
You're fuel is not more expensive, its taxed more heavily (a lot more).
Out of pocket, at the pump, what's the difference it's REALLY EXPENSIVE!
The difference is something must be working right. Here, we have a tax code that PAYS the lowest members of the food chain to BREED OUT!
In Germany, the average person is much more skilled and educated. Not a bunch of stupid heads everywhere pumping out stupid kids and looking for a free ride courtesy of the working man.
I sometimes wonder how European style socialism and tax rates would fare in America's multi-tiered, multi-cultural, multi-class population?
The truth is that in Germany as with most of modern Europe, most people have about the same level of income, and assets.. they all get government help with medical and education costs and they share it well.. Here you have 1% of the population owning 90% of the assets and the middle class is all but gone... it would be a disaster to have $7/gal diesel here!

(Maybe not as extreme)We have almost no middle class. You can see that on
the German car sales. In the top ten are either the VW Golf and the same sized Opel or e-class, 5series or Audi A6. Sometimes the e-class was even on
second place behind the Golf.

Here in Toronto Diesel is usually 10 cents cheaper per liter than unleaded but I recently saw one station where it was higher.
It's now 1.10€ per liter for diesel
and 1.35€ per liter for gaz
The difference use to be bigger but because of ecological ethique, they had more tax on diesel. Also more than 70% or cars in france runs by dieses...
