Any E300 Owners?
Hi,
Just a few questions from an E300 owner. I'm a diesel noob but an MB owner (drove a 201 almost into the ground 301 K miles so far).
My diesel is a 1996 E300 and I've just started to drive it regularly. It looks like I may have oil coming out from the filler caps, is this normal for a 10 year old diesel? I'm guessing a new cap will resolve this, or should say hoping.
How often do the AC systems on these go? We had a warm day the other day and I didn't seem to be getting cold air (bought it in winter so i couldn't test it)
How easy is it to pull the guage cluster? I've got a bulb out and I think the car is tired of telling me, I too gorw tired of the message.

Is the cap damaged or loose? Shouldn't be any oil coming out. Perhaps its cross-threaded?
Take the car to an AC specialist to have it checked out.
Instrument cluster comes out with 2 small wire hooks, you can make your own, or you can get them from a MB dealer for a few quid/bucks/shillings
If you don't want to do that, you can remove the plastic from underneath the steering wheel and push the cluster out from behind.

Hey i have a 99 turbo diesel and my air went out during the winter turned out i jus had to have it recharged which was less than $60 not quite sure but you may want to have the motor mounts checked out i had them fail. this hurt my handling with a growling noise when turn and a vibration at 57mph and made the car vibrate at idle as well as diesel noise was greatly increased. I love my w210 diesel you may also want to run some power kleen performance additive through the engine it cleans your fuels system and injectors works great hope you enjoy the car
