'96 E300d flashers, turn signals, trunk release quit

'96 E300d flashers, turn signals, trunk release quit
I have a problem that just cropped up.
The turn signals, flashers, rear window defroster and trunk remote release all stopped working at the same time.
A little background:
1) the car's wiring harness was replaced about a year ago
2) I am in the middle of replacing the right rear window regulator and the door panel is off and the electric motor and door lights are disconnected
3) I just had the ECU re flashed
4) when I was working on the window regulator I noticed the overhead lights would not come on when the door was opened
5) I checked every fuse with a meter and pulled and cleaned them.
That's about it.

Having the door panel off and courtesy light disconnected causes some issues. IIRC, on mine the rear dome light wanted to stay on all the time and the sun roof didn't operate until it was all put back together.

turn signals, flashers and trunk release not working
I finally got the correct regulator and motor, replaced the broken one and put the door back on.
The dome lights worc correctly now, as well as the headlights staying on for a while to light your way away from the car.
But the flashers, rear window defroster, turn signals and trunk release still are refusing to operate.
Any clues?
Any suggestions on how to reset the computer that controls these items for a 1996 E300D?
