Do modern MB Diesels need Mods?
Hi There,
I'm a Jeep Liberty CRD driver who is considering taking the plunge into the GLK250. In our world, we do things like disable the EGR system and the CCV return in order to keep the oily soot blow-by from gumming up our turbos and intake manifolds & the embedded sensors.
Are these shenanigans necessary with a modern MB engine?

2005 Mercedes E320 CDI
CDI and CRD
I own a Jeep Liberty CRD. I also own a 2005 CDI. I blew the engine on the CDI and when I pulled it apart the intake was full of soot. I have an EGR emulator on my E320 now and a block off plate. Think SEGR with the egr physically blocked off. GLK250 is a whole different animal. Good Luck on that one.

A-ha. I knew it was too good to be true--a diesel is a diesel is a diesel. Thanks for the real world report, Greasey Bob. I am sorry your CDI payed the ultimate price, but the sphere of human knowledge has been expanded.
