After reading all of this I do not think I would buy a car with a DPF . Just too much hastle & BS.

Hopefully my present 220CDI will see me out.!!

2014 GL350BT
DPF regenerates every so often. It is not a defect or a concern. My new 2014 GL 350 just had its first regen on my way home today. I stopped at the store and noticed a pungent burning order almost like brake pads. Noticed it again when I got home.

I have a BMW 335D so am familiar with how this works and smells. The order will actually go away with time until you won't notice it but perhaps catch the regen cycle and note the fan running and intense heat from under the engine compartment.


It's nothing to be concerned with.
