good aftermarket warranty for Diesels ?
Hey folks,
help me decide between these 2:
Option 1: 2008 E-Class bluetec 45k miles, CPO for 24,500 - I need to fly one-way to pick it up - Silver color
Option 2: 2008 E-Class bluetec 46k miles, No Warranty for 23,500 - Color is horrible, dark grey/ pewter
how much is warranty for these to 150k ? Help me decide which one to go for OR to wait till a black / white color one comes, also these dont have xenons, who can drive without those these day

Out Of Control!!
I like Pewter better than Silver.
Any other differences?
Interior?
Options?
General condition?
Signs of neglect, abuse or even minor accidents?

Just found out (the hard way), having an existing CPO warranty make it easier to get an extended warranty.

Sorry to hear that!
Yes it does. I actually found mine in Louisville, with AutoTrader, and had my local SR purchase it and then CPO it to me. I added the 2 yr extended warranty when i purchased it from him...

Neither suffers from many problems really. Few injectors & glow plugs over 180k in the I-6, a turbo inlet air temp sensor & glow plug control module over 52k on our v6. Both are good drivetrains. Warranty use is usually more based on the vehicle around the drivetrain

Now 33k miles since new and 5 years later, I've had no problems with my 2007 Bluetec (except an alternator replacement in the first year, was probably my fault but not so sure), zero oil leaks, my 7G is smooth and problem free and when I drive, I drive it hard, to its limit (need to have the cpu reprogrammed and speed limiter removed). I change oil every 5k miles or less (since I don't drive it very much) at CHMB in Cherry Hill NJ.
However, to be fair, I received a message from another Bluetec owner today, complaining of oil stream from an oil drain near the dipstick; we are discussing it hence no further information on it yet.
By the way I did not purchase an extended warranty though had a choice till the 4 yr warranty ran out. If something breaks, I'll have it fixed, don't really care, something I would not advise others to follow if it's their primary driver.

As I say, it is a chance and of course, you only have 33k on it. I am getting close to 90K and only engine repair done so far are glow plugs. I heard about those famous oil leaks on BlueTec but I never get to know where the oil comes from as no one cares to report back what the problem was after it gets fixed.
How can you drive it hard when you only have 33k miles on it, do you go to a track or drag strip?

NJ Turnpike is my track . When I say hard, I also mean flooring it from start with traction off, especially if I'm first at the lights, though need to watch out, being aware that 'Exibition of Speed' is actually a moving violation. Staggered rims with Michelin tires added fun and safety on fast turns, it's my fun car and very rarely have any passengers in it. I bought it while working on a contract at AIG, 76 miles from home, got bored of driving the SUV every day, filling the tank every other day, ordered the Bluetec after three months and it took another three months before it was built and shipped to the US, June end 07. I did 18K miles on the new car in remaining six months of my contract, then 15K miles over last 5 years; still smells new. Apart from the KD Box, E63 OEM spolier and a 600Watt 150x4 amp I installed for phenomenal sound, not anything else. Check out amp install pictures on my web site, link is in a sticky in the Audio section. Also check my photo album.

Wow impressive but for added safety, I will also recommend lowering the car using H&R or Eibach springs plus stiffer shocks like Bilstein B8. In addition, installing bigger brakes to stop you faster. Don’t get me wrong but they all look ugly no matter the make and model when they have big fender gap plus small brakes in those big wheels and low profile tires.
KD Box – been there, but I do not like it overall, thus why I am working on turbo/intercooler upgrade and ECU remap. Already installed E500 4 pot front and wider rear calipers (front and rear disks are slotted and directionally vented, if you know what I am talking about).
Now I have Bilstein B8 for all four corners on the way and H&R springs already purchased for my next upgrade when weather warms up plus 17 inch wheels w/summer tires.
but I thought you say in your first post that you had ECU reprogrammed and now you are saying that you have KD Box.

I said (need to have the cpu reprogrammed and speed limiter removed); its not done yet. Last year I took it to a tuner in PA who attempted to and almost ruined the ECU, gladly no damage was done; now looking for a better tuner.
A while ago I considered adjustable coilovers, coilover sleeves etc. but the car was still under warranty, now it does not matter. Thanks for reviving my thoughts, I'll start looking at adjustable coilover and camber kits again, I'm too slow to make the change
Recent previews of 2014 E63AMG with 4matic have me thinking about it and may order one when available, though I have no intention of parting with the Bluetec, I hate parting with things,

The warranty is more likely to protect you from non-drivetrain issues. Alternators, AirMatic pump, fuel pump, power accessories, A/C, etc. I would take the one that is CPO.

Adjustable coil overs in terms of adjusting spring height and stiffness rate are not good idea for me because I will not raise or lower those, ones the height is set. Although I like the ones w/adjustable shocks preferably electronically because it is pain to adjust rear ones. I look at Bilstein B16 family but settled on springs and shocks instead, maybe next time when I upgrade my suspension I'll consider them.

007 - If you're looking for extended warranty information, please talk with my Business/Finance Manager Travis Eastman. He is also on the forums here and has many many great reviews on service and most of all, price. Tell him Jason gave you his name, he will quote you options for you're extension of CPO (up to 135k) or aftermarket warranty.
Thanks a bunch, PM me with questions.
