E320 CDI High Mileage Maintenance

E320 CDI High Mileage Maintenance
The CDI just clicked past 250K and it got me thinking. What am I missing on high mileage maintenance? Thought I'd post the question and see what other CDI owners do as the miles rack up. I'm doing the tranny every 50K coolant and diff at 100k intervals. Brake fluid every pad/rotor change. Oil and filters when she asks. Replace engine mounts and rear control arm bushings when vibration and wear start. I pulled the intake at 180k and the swirl flaps were clean and all operating just fine. maybe its the 90C thermostat? Nothing in the plumbing or intercooler that didn't flush out with a little kero. But what about the timing chain? valves? I drive this car hard, like I stole it, and I'd hate to lose her to something preventable. What did you guys up in the 400 - 500K range do to make it there?

What year is your cdi? My 06 is coming up to 150k and I am wondering the same thing. A couple of questions please:
--Did you ever change the water pump and pulleys?
--At what mileage did you change the motor mounts and rear control arm bushings?
Thanks,
Mike T.

Hey Mike, Mine is a 10/05 2006. WP started gushing at 180K and no pulleys were required on replacement. I did do the belt at that service. MMs started vibrating at 135K during slow launches and got very bad quickly; the replacements have been fine. Rear bushings at 180K as the tires were wearing brutally. One thing I've learned on this great ride. Don't fix it unless it's really broken and read and ask lots of questions. The e55 guys gave me the solution to the bushings and the body and sway bar squeaks (Wurth HHS-K). as they are torquing in similar fashion. I am wondering about the chain guides as I have driven this car hard for 9 years. Enjoy the ride. Paul

Not really maintenance, but at 180k miles, my E320 CDI started leaking around the number one injector and then the glow plug module failed. The module has a plug in the side and is held in by two screws but was the harder job due to difficulty of gaining access.
The injector was kind of stuck but did finally come out. The seal was $1.80 but the stretch bolt was five and the special grease was $30 (for a tablespoon).
MAINTENANCE wise, I also replaced the seals on the EGR mixing chamber. Not broken but starting to make a mess at the intake manifold. I guess that was a day long project but not horribly difficult.
And all in the last month!

Husker is selling injector seals for 85 cents and bolts for $1.57
I think each diesel owner should have them spare as black death once it starts, it goes bad very fast.
