Has anyone bypassed the DVD in motion sensor on their leased E Coupe?
I have a 2011 E350 that is leased. Just curious if anyone has bypassed the block from being able to have a DVD on while the vehicle is in motion and how difficult it was to do. Does it raise any big concerns that the dealership would be aware of? Obviously it would need to be reversed before the car gets turned back in at the end of the lease.

I don't recall the exact cost of this upgrade. You can contact http://midcityengineering.com/ regarding pricing. I do believe it's in the area of 700 or so. It's bundled with the reverse camera. They might be able to just sell you the VIM module without the camera. The installation is strictly DIY. There is a video of it on youtube.

2010 E 550 Coupe
I have this, I opted to have a professional install it only because I didn't feel comfortable removing the radio. Cost about $400 if I recall correctly and a $100 in labor to have it installed, works good you hold down the phone end key and both the gps and video functions come alive
Also if I remember correctly it had a wiring harness on it so no cutting or splicing you just remove it when you want it out

$400!?! No thanks. I'd rather deal with the lockout unless there is a more cost effective solution for it. Isn't there a wire that can be disconnected to disable the lockout as in a lot of other automaker's systems?

I tried to source install instructions for you module and could not find it. Does the radio unit have to be removed? OR does your unit get installed under the dash by the fuse panel?
If its easy to install I may opt to purchase but not sure I want my entire dash removed.
Thanks

I did install myself. Do not need to remove radio, all in foot well. Works great
