NEW 2012 E550 COUPE- exhaust help?

hey guys i just bought a new e550 coupe and i was wondering what i could do with it so that it can have a deeper and louder groan to it (exhaust suggestions)?
would doing so ruin my warranty?

Not really, changing the exhaust system shouldn't have too much effect but it depends on your supplying dealership.

I'd say get the secondary cats removed and see how you find that?

kefking87 01-24-2012 08:22 AM

like dr. nab said u can delete your 2nd cats and also get an x-pipe

emdem 01-24-2012 09:45 AM

+2 - If you're just looking for noise, then the x-pipe is the way to go... keep your old cats just in case...

The turbos restrict the amount and quality of sound generated by the engine. It's pretty hard to get a V-8 normally asperated growl from a turbo car.

We have systems from SuperSprint and REMUS available.

We're about to make an announcement this week on the SuperSprint system with quad tips, AMG tips and the ability to retain the OEM tips as well. It will be available as a cat-back or rear section mufflers.

Matt-
That would be interesting: please include sound bites if you can.

I heard the Vath exhaust sounds awesome, and the pics look really cool on the e coupe. But it does void the warranty for the exhaust, but if you do put back on the stock exhaust your warranty is fine.
I am really looking into getting the vath quad exhaust for the coupe. It is offered in quads or duals.
The price is just over $2100.

wow the vath looks awesome but i need the warranty;
an x-pipe sounds like the best option right now
Anybody know the cons and pros of xpipe installation ??

I believe an x-pipe will have the same effect on your warranty as an aftermarket system. If the warranty is effected, does it void the warranty for just the exhaust system?

I spoke to my dealer, and they said it voids the warranty for just the exhaust system and not the whole car.

+1

As long as you do not remove cats, your powertrain warranty will remain intact. If you remove cats, you get in Check Engine Lights and reflash games and you are in for warranty nightmares should anything happen.

chrisdabeast7 01-25-2012 09:15 PM

has anyone actually put an x-pipe on their e550? if so how do you like it?

Raygt3 01-26-2012 10:25 PM

For the amount of money folks are talking about ploping down on a piece of pipe, I would take a serious look at a new high horsepower high torque computere programming go get a set of happy feet to take you to somewhere new HP is waiting to be released

I don't think anyone here is looking into exhausts expecting gains comparable to a tune on a turbocharged engine. Upgrading to an aftermarket cat-back exhaust is mostly for sound, superior quality, weight reduction, better looking tips and slight performance gains.

Your site only goes to 2008 for the E550

CampioniShop 01-28-2012 01:36 AM

Once the system will be added - it will go up to 2012!

Just have straight pipes installed. It sounds awesome. Even my friend with a 2012 CLS63 AMG says my car sounds better than his.

If you replaced the mufflers too I bet it would sound crazy.

Delete the second cat too ! Well actually they are not cat because there is only honey comb inside it so it's actually second resonator.

lee16 12-21-2012 06:31 PM

The honey comb is the cat...dont remove them because your car will not pass smog (in Calif) without them.
