Hood Badge Replacement?

Anyone out there make a replacement hood badge. Not real happy with the looks of the cheap looking stamped aluminum OE ones. Looking for a nice cast/porcelain piece. Even the old style with the white porcelain star might work, can't find one that mounts correctly to my car. Just to make it difficult the mounting on the '12 E550 is odd compared to what I might consider standard mounting on other models.

^ pls dont...unless youre replacing your grille with plain fins and no star. otherwise you'll have one too many stars in front of you. besides, its not a CE. just my unsolicited advice.

so the wifes sedan has a star on the grille and you put a standing star on the bonnet in replace of the flat badge, is that right?

theres a SIMPLE reason why you DONT see a new merc rolling out from the dealer like that.

please read on the comments. some people spend money to make their car look fugly.

I want to replace my flat hood badge with a black one, but I've never been able to find one.

One of the members on here has had one, but never figured out where to get it. Its the same badge as we have now, but instead of the blue, its black and white. If anybody has any leads, It would be amazing!

Ebay

I did try and actually ordered one they said would fit but it does not. Seems hard to find for the coupe. The dealer has one for $62.00 but again they told me I would need body work to make the hole bigger where the current badge I'd.Perhaps all of this is not worth it!

do you mind posting pics of the new badge and the holes in the hood? is there some reason why you cant remove the pins from the new badge and simply attach it with moulding tape?

I agree. that is SO ugly. I throw up a little every time I see a benz with grill and hood ornament. oftentimes its even further uglied up by a ornament front tag.

It's often those who buy the vehicles second hand and cant help but be so excited to show to the world that they drive a "benz" that they want multiple symbols showing off their new "status." it's quite sad actually.

oh, i thought you wanted to replace a flat emblem with another (different colored) flat emblem.

you're wanting to mount a vertical emblem after removing the flat one?

i just re-read the forum and it appears i mistook you for the OP. installing a vertical emblem after removing the flat one is tantamount to sacrilege.

flat

Not sure why but guess it does not matter as it seems too difficult.
Thought old Mercedes lovers would be supportive of having the hood star!

If someone wants to replicate the classic front styling of a Mercedes with the standing hood star, then they also have to swap out the star grill and replace it with the appropriate plain louvered grill. Otherwise the look isn't right to either lovers of the current sports grill or the more classic Mercedes styling.
