facelifted coupe "dipped"
These were quick pictures snapped by Eddie at E Z M Auto Detailing and Dipping here in Houston. I'll get some more shots when I get her back. But I thought I'd share what I've seen so far. Product is not plastidip but actually Raail Xytek. The finish is much nicer.
This is on my mobile so hope the post looks right.

Original pricing for using Plastidip was a little under $1000. With the Raail it was supposed to be quite a bit more as it's a more expensive product, but Eddie hooked me up by charging me just $150 more. I plan on giving him more business for sure.
I'm considering doing something with the interior trim since I'm not a big fan of the wood grain look. I'm still thinking of darkening (not blacking out) the chrome pieces, trim, and wheels.

I think if you aren't going for a glossy, paint-like finish, this is a good alternative. It's more affordable, and easy to remove. But if you want to do something like a brushed alum look, wrap is the way to go. There is a coupe around here in red wrap that is just amazing. I wanted a satin look, so I went this route.

Kirkster, you don't have to come to Houston for something like this. There are plastidipping services everywhere. You could always ask the shop to use Raail Xytek instead of Plastidip.

Thanks...are the calipers painted or new? I like that look.
Yes still black. I just have to peel off the Xytek and the original paint will look great since its protected!

I'd be interested in knowing the life expectancy of Raail Xytek.

How long does Plasti Dip® last? If properly applied, Plasti Dip® will last as long as 3 years without having to be retouched. It is very durable and will not lose it's bond. The spray distance when applying as well as the amount of coats applied will heavily determine the longevity of the product. After 3 years, or during the three years if desired, a new refresher coat can be easily applied.
from Xytek site:
Two year product warranty for fading and cracking
How durable is it?
Our attentive and tested process of applying the plastic coating allows for a strong, enduring surface. It will protect the under paint against mild acts of vandalism, minor accidents and scrapes, and repels rock chips. This won’t just come off with a few rubs of a finger, use the coating in conjunction with the adhesion promoter to give enhanced durable surface on already raw plastic bumpers or parts, chrome or steel bumpers.
How long does it last?
We offer a 2 year material replacement warranty on the product for fading, cracking or premature, non incidental peeling. With the proper care such as keeping the surface area clean and using our recommended cleaners and sealers, you can get 2 – 5 times that amount of life out of the product.
