New E550 Coupe Owner
I finally picked up a 2010 e550 coupe in tenorite gray metallic and was able to find one that had the hockey stick drl's. There are a few things I want to do to the car immediately although I am falling in love with the stock appearance more and more. I do want to tint it, do something about that orange corner and I was considering swapping the hockey sticks for some straight drl's (even the hockey sticks are growing on me though). I've read a few threads stating that it was a direct swap with the 2013 e550 lights but from the dealer those parts are like $800. I can get a cheap kit with everything off ebay but they only sell the one for the 204 c class are these the same fit with the black grill mesh?
Also there is a scuff on the front right bumper (you can see in the picture) that the dealer offered to repaint the entire bumper to fix. Is it worth it to get the entire bumper repainted for this.. it otherwise looks brand new. I'm always a bit wary of repainting parts of a car as Mercedes paint tends to be so good. They will be using high grade paint as well and matching with Mercedes color code of course.

Congrats and welcome! Be careful with those eBay leds.. I had the sedan of this car and ordered a replacement and the led was so weak haha!

Thanks I might just stick with the hockey sticks then. It's crazy how much they want for those lights at the dealer and I'm unable to find the grill/mesh housing part online that would fit this car, from the dealer it's a hundred a piece. Do these take the same inserts as the sedan?

Thanks looking forward to modding it but having too much fun driving it stock as is right now. I did purchase the iphone media interface device off amazon which is great though... 1st mod lol. What percent tint did you go with on your front and back?

Congrats and welcome, it looks like the tenorite grey is very similar to steel grey metallic, smoked side markers match the paint pretty well. Getting rid of the orange really cleans up the front end IMO. Link to a similar product to the ones I have on my car below.
Smoked side markers
Heres what they look like on my steel grey metallic 2012

The ceramic tint is as dark as I could go and still stay legal in AZ. The front is 33% rear is limo dark.

Thanks. What you’ve done is a lot of what I’d like to do to mine especially the chrome delete looks nice. I think those are the side markers I just got in the mail. You’re right they are very close in color. Did you remove the side door thin chrome strip or color match it?

Oh yes, those drl's are still so cool to me, even to this day......one of the things I loved about my W212. Sometimes I see one in the wild and get excited haha.

Removed the side trim, did a quick write up on it a while back, the rest of the chrome trim is covered in gloss black vinyl. Grill is an "e63 style" aftermarket item in gloss black.

Thanks, about a week into ownership and it's already in the shop getting tinted and chrome deleted. I've had my eyes set on some 19-20" gloss black multispoke concaves in future but I do like the contrast on the aluminum amg wheels as well so it might be a minute before I change wheels.... also don't know how much more my pockets can take right now .

That looks great except for the big black blob on the front plate area.......I'm sure that should buff out though eh?

Thanks. The license plate thing is a force of habit from posting online. Lol it still has the dealer paper plates on it. I'm definitely gonna get a black california plate for this though. I'll post some decent pics once I can get it washed and the weather clears up during the day. Any thoughts on some gloss black wheels for this or should I consider painting the stock 18"s? I was considering 19" because I probably wouldn't need to lower the car and it wouldn't adjust the ride too much.

Oh no! As long as the dealer is making it's monthly payment to you for advertising, then it can stay on, however, if they are not keeping up with the monthly payment schedule then it must go! Don't give the dealer any wiggle room either. Also I have the sweetest set of black gloss wheels in 18. And they came from California too (HRE)
