New C238 & A238 Waiting Room

Yes I think you are right, my car was on that boat (Orca Ace), it stopped on the east coast first and then via panama canal made its way to CA, then on a truck to me in AZ. The E53s first hit the pavement in US about three weeks ago.

The E53 Coupe and Cabriolet configurators are now available on the MBUSA site.
Edit - The Coupe is configurable. The cabriolet is on the site but not buildable yet.

AMG E53 Coupe timeline from order to delivery.
September 19, 2018 - Placed order with the MB dealer
November 20, 2018 - The car went into production
November 23, 2018 - The car was completed
December 1, 2018 - Left Bremerhaven by ship to Southampton UK
December 4, 2018 - Left Southampton UK for Baltimore USA
December 13, 2018 - Arrived at the Port of Baltimore
December 18, 2018 - Left VPC and assigned to a truck carrier
December 20, 2018 - Arrived at the MB dealer in the morning
December 20, 2018 - Delivered to me in the evening
I hope this helps those waiting for their cars. It was exactly one month from production to delivery. Pretty good considering it had to be produced, shipped across the ocean, processed in the USA and the transported to the dealer. The dealer worked hard to make this happen. The car was an ordered/sold car with my name on it from the beginning. It was listed as priority 1. The dealer made calls to the VPC trying to get it tagged and moved along. He knew it was important for me to have it before Christmas. He was apparently successful.

Sweet ride, and helpful info for anyone trying to estimate their delivery window.
One footnote: Add about two weeks shipping time for West Coast destinations.
My E450 Coupe shipped from Bremerhaven Dec. 12th, and is scheduled to hit Jacksonville port Dec. 24th en route to arriving in Long Beach around Jan. 9th.
My dealer is in Long Beach, so I'm anticipating a quick transit from the VPC to the dealership. YMMV.

I usually get 7% plus any manufacturer incentives or special offers. At that level it still leaves an acceptable profit margin for the dealer. In a "good deal" everyone should have the opportunity to make some money. At least that's my philosophy. Works for me.

Well, the Roadster forums are pretty much ghost towns, so I looked for a waiting room thread just to have somewhere to post where someone would actually read it. So....
My SLC300 shipped on 12/18 on the Swallow Ace and I lost tracking on the vessel after it passed through the Hebrides and rounded over Ireland. So somewhere at sea with a first stop at Newark. Then Brunswick. Then the Canal. And finally Long Beach where there are both VPC and my dealer.
Looking at February 1. Thanks for reading. I feel better now.

My wife drives the pre-facelift SLK350 and loves the car. Looking forward to your thoughts after receiving it.

Silver is my all around favourite colour. Was tempted by how fresh the car looks in white, plus I wanted more of a change from the car I replaced which was silver. Now that I'm trying to keep this white car clean, I'm realising that I should have stuck with silver after all.

Is this an AMG? Why are the wheels not the AMG wheels?

I have a coupe with the night package and panoramic sunroof - plenty of black bits for contrast. Looks good in my opinion ;-)

The wheels are the 19 inch twin 5-spoke AMG wheels with black accents that are standard on the E53. I actually preferred the 20 inch AMG multi-spoke wheels with black accents, but the 19 inch wheels are the only option that comes with all season tires. I didn’t want to deal with switching from summer to winter tires twice a year or trying to find 20 inch all-season runflat tires to fit the 20 inch wheels, which as far as I can tell don’t exist. It is possible to find 20 inch non- runflat tires to fit the 20 inch wheels. My wife is the primary driver and she prefers runflats, so that’s what we went with.
