E400 Ground Clearance with AMG Package
Hi Folks, I am contemplating purchase of a 2016 or 2017 E400 cabriolet. I have a steep driveway (not a problem for my wife's Sienna) but am wondering whether the AMG Sport Package reduces the ground clearance (or whether it is just some differences in the styling of the trim). Any other comments on whether folks like the AMG Sport Package would be appreciated. It appears that about half of the E400's in my area have that package. I like the styling of the AMG wheels, but don't want to create problems due to having less ground clearance.
Thanks very much.

Yes, very low with the amg package, you always have to remember to look at the camera when approaching parking curbs so as not to pull over them and risk damage when you go and back up if the front end gets over the curb. On my luxury package wagon I don't have to think as much about this sort of thing as the nose is quite a bit higher.

You may also find that you can clear the driveway one way only - either forward or backward. When you do that test drive, try both ways.
Also, I sometimes find it easier to clear the dips if I hit them on an angle, rather than straight-on. Try that, too.
Yup - these cars are quite low. I find that I can only use one or two car wash locations in my area. The others would either drag the bottom of the car or scuff the wide wheel rims. Care is highly recommended.

Thanks folks for the responses. Unfortunately, the nearest dealership that might have an E400 is about 50 miles from me - so it might not be easy to try one on my driveway. I may need to take some measurements and do some math. I think I may focus my search on E400's without the AMG sport package.
I was curious about the comment about the air suspension and being able to raise it. Is that a feature that is standard on 2016 / 2017 E400's or is it part of a package?

That might not be so easy. When I bought my E400, the TTV6 option was not available on any Lux trim cars -- only on Sport models. I would have seriously considered the Lux trim, if the turbo was available, as my car has regular steel springs (not air suspension) and the ride can often be almost harsh on the bad roads around my part of the city.

I would suggest getting a non amg into and out of the driveway and measure then compare -test drive from the local dealer ( maybe ) - u need to know on this before U pull the trigger.
