Hello,
My ignition completely froze, so I drilled the heck out of it. The steering is unlocked. I removed the instrument cluster and removed the bolt that holds the assembly in. the assembly now rotates, but won't come out (to be replaced) What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Found with the '75 I just got where the PO did exactly as you describe as far as drilling it out. There is a small detent you have to depress while wiggling it out. Kind of like when you extend the legs on one of those canopy cover things. I was able to get mine far enough that the detent wasn't holding it in anymore but still had to strategically angle a screwdriver to get it out the rest of the way (no damage to the car). I did a quick search and saw an article on the W123 chassis ignition removal and discovered it was the same deal going on in the W115. If you look at a picture of one removed you can see it about midway down the shaft. I just hope its not as bad when I go to reinstall with the new one. Good luck!
