What would this car be worth?
hey, guys. I am going to look at the following car later today - wanted your expert input re- how much it is worth, realistically in today's market (i.e. what would be a really good deal, what would be a decent, how much should I offer, etc)
Car description:
1982 280CE -
75K miles
Grey Market car. 2 owner. assuming its in the excellent condition they claim, then how much?!!!
Thanks! I looked at this car last year and it had not been driven in like 10 years, and it had a lot of mechanical issues but cosmetically it was in great shape.. From the sound of it, this guy got it all fixed up.
Thanks in advance.

I like the 280CE, but I would not pay more than $3k, tops $5k if it's pretty much perfect AND original.
Things that are expensive:
1) Rear windows (the regulators are bad in design, they bend and are very expensive)
2) Make sure the sunroof works
3) Make sure the steering gearbox doesn't have TOO MUCh play - some play can be adjusted out, but otherwise it will need a new steering box
I don't know the specific M110 issues, but I know that the motor needs regular valve adjustments. The Euro M110 has good power though, post some pictures if you get the car!

Not really, I usually use completed ebay listings.
Take a look at the 300CD's values and consider that VERY VERY high end since somehow those cars are fetching big $$$ on ebay these days. The gassers don't fare as well..

This car has an engine that Mercedes eventually quit selling in the USA because Mercedes couldn't get its fuel economy to the point the car didn't "qualify" for gas guzzler tax. It's a real fuel hog. Last few years of the W123 in the USA were diesel only.

Since it is a Euro-Market car, it all depends on the options. 5 Speed or Auto? Velour, leather? Heated seats, power windows? Climate control, AC, or neither? Rear Window sunshade? A fully equipped euro model might make a nice collectors piece.
