1983 300D Vacuum help
Hi all,
This is my first post. I have some questions about my vacuum setup. I bought a 1983 300D today and noticed that the vacuum lines were not running to the correct places under the hood. I was able to get most of it corrected by using a diagram (diagram.jpg) I found on here. However, I have a few things I need cleared up.
1.) In 1.jpg you'll see the guts of the central plug. One of the previous owners, the one who modified all the vacuum stuff, broke the plug. I took the cover off and plugged directly into the lines because all the connectors were broken. I, unfortunately, did not do this very carefully and I didn't take note of which line went where. I looked at a photo of another 300d setup on line and noticed that the former owner had the plug upside down as well, so I set everything up opposite of what he had. The question is: did I do it right? I have the lines numbered in the pic to correspond with the numbers on the plug. Can anyone verify if I've got it right.
Notice that one of them is plugged. according to the diagram I have, nothing goes into this fourth line. I didn't want to keep it open, so I plugged it. I'll get a proper plug soon. Is this the right thing to do? Should it be plugged?
2.) in 2.jpg you'll see another "plug". I found the line that used to come off of here crammed in the sidewall of the fender. Anyway, where does it go? I saw some pics of other 300d's on line and saw that it went over towards the firewall where the vacuum lines go through, but none of them showed where it connected on that end. See my 3.jpg. Does it connect there? The ALDA is plugged into this thing at the top. Does the other line go in the bottom?
Ok, thanks. I hope this is clear enough and makes sense.

No. The correct repair is to remove every vacuum component on the valvecover and place it in the nearest waste receptacle.
Yes. Without the air line connecting the intake to the ALDA you will have no additional power (88hp instead of 120hp).
I see quite a bit of salt corrosion in those pictures. Its important that you check the floors and frame for rust damage.

I understand that it doesn't work for some people. It seems to be working fine for me. I simply want to verify that I have it hooked up properly. Is there anyone who can verify this by looking at my picture? Thank-you.

Proper connection is replacing the rubber 3-way connestions with straight tubes and removing every vacuum component on the valvecover.
A functional EGR is bad for the environment.
