Vacuum Line Disaster. I Need Your Help!!!!

I bought a 1985 300D Turbo sight unseen. When received and examining the engine bay there are three fuel filters, dangles of vacuum lines that may or may not work. When looking at the diagrams and information against my setup, it is confusing to see what happened and what the previous owner did.

What I noticed:
  • 3 fuel filters
  • Vacuum lines closed off by nails and some not connected at all. Center climate control vents, door locks are not operable. I'm thinking this might be the issue.
Is it best to disconnect everything and start new? Or just manage what is there and go line by line. I'm new to wrenching on a W123, so any and all advice would be help. Advice rather that commentary.

Thanks for all your help

THREE fuel filters?? Was this car used as a greaser (used fry oil for fuel)?
Vacuum lines are tedious but not impossible; the worst thing that'll happen is you won't be able to turn the car off. That's why you have a STOP lever on the injector pump...
An AllData DIY will give you the schematics you need to get your vacuum system back up to snuff. There's a million videos available for the W123 as well; you've got some homework.

VERY COMMON PROBLEM! I would start with what HAS to work: Tranny, engine shut off, brake booster. Then start adding circuits as needed. I gave up on door locks. Pulling out all the seats and door panels is ridiculous..
