This is what my family does:
Dad
S Class 5.0 Litre V8 Premium
Mom
ML Class 3.7 Litre V6 Regular
Me
SL Class 6.0 Litre V12 Premium
In the ML, regular works fine. I would have no problem advising you to use regular except after reading an earlier post about the car's computer and its inablility to adapt to a different grade of fuel. My advice would be to check with a private MB Specialist (not the dealer). My best guess would be that the 300 would work fine with regular based on my experience with the 3.7 Litre ML. But double check before you switch.

WHen i got my car running, i ran the cheap shi* becuz super was nearly 3.30$ a gallon, then i killed a set of spark plugs, now gass is back to 2.35$ for super and im back to that... spark plugs are expensive at 48$ a set...

FYI i paid 2.09 in new york (i thinkiwas actually in new jersey at the time!) for gas yesterday, and 2.85 when i came back to los angeles that same day.
