You like?...I get you more juice then !!

I'm uploading a bunch more of them today when I find some time.

shadowgriffen 02-16-2006 09:54 AM

oh boy do I likey!

Hey Jim does Rockingham (Spelling?) park hold events like this? I've driven by there quite a few times on my way to the flea market with my mommy :)

Jim's500E 02-16-2006 10:18 AM

Hmmm, I think you are confused to as where I live...its Manchester, Connecticut... USA.

But, yes, Rockingham in the UK I'm sure does have HPDE (High Performance Drivers Events)....Rockingham, New Hampshire USA is a horse track....other than those 2 I know of no other 'Rockingham Parks' .

shadowgriffen 02-16-2006 10:20 AM

LOL oh ok and this whole time I though "race track" as in auto

:hammer: I'm an idiot

Jim's500E 02-16-2006 10:25 AM

I'm not understanding your last response. Didn't your 'mommy' tell you to stay away from drugs ! :) j/k .. :duh:

shadowgriffen 02-16-2006 11:07 AM

You're absolutely right Jim, LOL! Drug's will do it to ya! :)

Jim,

Did something on the 500E break?

Jim's500E 02-16-2006 03:44 PM

Yes!! Christ, every time I track it I usually break one or both sway bar links ($9 plastic items)...this day the SLS cells let go and the radiator developed a high pressure leak after the 3rd run...curbing me for the day. Can't complain though...was the original radiator and hoses at 145K !! No more though...its all new and good for the March 2006 track day.

2PHAST 02-16-2006 04:15 PM

Kudos to you for racing that bethemoth. I found the 500e to be too heavy to be a serious contender on the track.

Thought you had got past the stage of needing an instructor with you?

rammbs 02-16-2006 04:51 PM

nice pics, jim! thanks for sharing. :zoom:

i wonder what's under that focus. ;)

ClayJ 02-16-2006 04:57 PM

What was the event, or who sponsored it Jim's500E?

I really like Limerock - used to run there all the time several years ago - but I have found it difficult to get onto the track now, seems like they just keep cutting back on non-race activity/access there....

Jim's500E 02-16-2006 05:44 PM

www.scda1.com ...they are the best group I've run with in the New England area. Just IMO. There are other good ones too, don't get me wrong.

And thanks Rick for the positive comment, I know I piss you off sometimes....but its because I care !! Jeff isn't my 'instructor' in this case...he is an instructor with them but his role in the car was to evaluate my driving so I can become an 'instructor' in 2006 (hopefully). (Read on...free track time for instructors) I've been putting myself in the intermediate run groups for a few years now...which is where I was that day. I'm no expert and not sure I want to be one either as their runs are way more 'stressful' to say the least. For sure the 500E would be more out of place in such a group too, regardless of my skill, or lack thereof. A the real track car , the VW, just doesn't have the nut to keep up with the experts in their Porsches and Ferraris.

That red Ford Focus is Don Sutton's monster (he owns a Ford dealership and club races out of New Hampshire)...someone said it has close to 300hp. Very nice machine (as far as Fords go) and he drives the snot out of it. Very impressive...guess 30 years of seat time does that.

Beheamoth, you bet, fat pig more like it. Certainly no track contender, I totally agree, even with my suspension and brakes all set-up it rolls and cavitates...but its fine for high speed drivers events. Makes for cool pix though...must get the fishtaling one up too. I hope you get your Red Sled out there...I know you did it with that sweet 2.6 190E in the past. :y You too Ramil.

ClayJ 02-16-2006 07:15 PM

Thanks for the link. I had planned on looking up who's renting the track this year and seeing if I can get myself invited....

See you out there. :)

Colorado Benz 02-16-2006 11:31 PM

Haven't had my benz for long, never even thought about running it on the track, this is great! My vette is set up for the track, coil overs, corner balanced, cage, harness the whole nine yards! I guess I'm going to have to run the benz for fun one of these days.

2PHAST 02-17-2006 04:13 PM

No worries Jim, its all good! Glad to here about the instructor training, I have instructed at a few events also, but then again, those were events I was a co-sponser on :zoom: The balance on the W201 and setup were great, but the power wasn't there, the 500E has the power thats for sure, but after tracking a E420, I was very dissapointed in the handling. I know the 500E is better and yours is by far much better configured for the track. I just wish it weighed in about 500lbs lighter

Keep it up, love the pictures and the green color!
