How 2 Remove Clear Lens on Instrument Cluster?
Hey Guys,
Wondering if anybody can help me here. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to remove the clear glass face off a W124 instrument cluster. I already removed the cluster from the car, unscrewed the back and pulled out the gauges but I'm stuck figuring out how to remove the glass. I need to remove the glass to install a flat chrome gauge panel . If anybody can help that would be great. Here's a link to what I'm trying to install. But I need to figure out how to open up the cluster face http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-95...53262612QQrdZ1 ~Cali |
hmm...maybe it's removing it from the back and not from the front glass maybe??

Well, I already pulled out the 3 cluster dials now I just have an empty cluster. The problem is opening the face or back up. I know it's possible becuzz they would'nt make this aftermarket part if it wasn't.
Anybody have any ideas? thanks, ~Cali |
try to put the cluster in an oven for a few minutes to soften out the old glue.
then pry it gently/slowly. done this before on my old cluster. |
yeah be careful with it. heat it up a bit first... the plastic lense is glued and can crack.. I cracked my old cluster lens trying to remove it. I decided not to try again with the new cluster.
