Where do I get E-Code 94+ headlights?

As above, my headlights are looking a little worn out and since the lenses are glued to the housing, I figured I may as well 'upgrade' to the E-Code headlights.

Bekkers sell them for $615 a pair...any 'cheaper' ideas?

Thanks

German Ebay. :y

Does anybody know the part numbers by any chance?

Bekkers sell the sets with blinkers too and I really just need the headlights.

rammbs 04-13-2006 12:13 PM

as far as i know, they always come along with the side blinkers. i bought my headlamps (for W201) from capitol west and it came along with euro corners.

it won't hurt to try www.capitolwest.com

Holson my man;

I literally just (last week) had the E500 Limited VIN 'un-locked' so I can order european-spec parts for the car thru my local dealership...if you want 94' E500 E-codes I could get them for maybe $200 a side...Hella units in MB boxes....no shipping fees (which is nice). You would have to come down though (1.5 hrs) to get them at our weekly GTG in Tolland just off I-84 near UCONN.

PUMA can get the regular and E500 ones also but probably not much cheaper than Bekkers. You could also try Speed Autoteile in Berlin and take it in the can with the shipping. They wholesale to you but shipping comes out to about the same as what PUMA or Bekkers sell them for.

Food for thought.... :)

Holson 04-13-2006 05:53 PM

Thanks for the heads-up on that Jim. Now I might be tempted to replace my headlights with E500's instead. The cheapest non-e500 ecodes I could find on the web are still $270/side and they are surely ugly in comparison... :wall:

Just wondering though, if installed on a standard 124, do those extra high beams only come on when I pull the light switch (to turn on the fog lights?) or is the headlight's internal wiring different, s.t turning on high beams also turn on the extra high beams?

*sorry.. that sounds confusing but i tried my best...

I didn't know that you could order E-Code headlights through us dealers? Does that mean that if I know the part numbers, I could get the non E500 e-code headlights too?

rammbs 04-13-2006 06:05 PM

i thought it was for a regular W124. so nevermind my link then.

Jim to the rescue! i still have yet to get two sets of extinguishers from you :y

No rescue, just passing info along ! :) I thought Holson wanted E500 euro-lites? Anyway, to me, 94-95' OEM USA lites look the same as E500 euros without the chromed interiors. Anywho, with the E500s lites you just have to re-wire the headlamp plug for the driving lites to work; its easy (no cutting) and I could fax you the new order of wiring. You might as well just do that Holson IMO, E500 lites for about the same coin.

Anyone with proof of a US-registered euro-spec MB can have the parts for it 'un-locked' thru one of the parts warehouses; for me it was Robbinsville, NJ. There's Fontana, CA and Jacksonville, FL also. I just happen to have a friend in the wholesale car business and have access to registration forms, etc. Anyway, it was easy with this Limited car because it actually was a completely legit registration. I really can't go ordering a ton of the same parts off it though...like euro-lites; so it would be a one (or two) shot deal for me to help a brother out off this car. If you can get blank registration forms and a legit euro-VIN number...try it yourself.

Peter, MB OEM is Hella I believe for W124s so no Bosch lite covers from MB. I don't think the covers are different for either the gray or chrome bezels though. What did PUMA tell you? I'd go there for that ...do you have a part number? I do have new extra Hella ones...does it fit? don't know?

Ramil, I have one new extinguisher kit now, if this guy local don't take it then its yours, what color cover you need? For the 190E or E500? No matter , I have gray, tan and black covers; and one burgundy one (yuk) We can talk PM on it or future ones.

200 a side AND here in fontana california?! I gotta find out more about this! I still don't get it. What do you do?

Jim's500E 04-17-2006 11:58 AM

No, the parts are not in Fontana (or any of the US warehouses)...if you convince your dealership with a US registration of a euro-spec MB, the dealer then sends it (a copy or FAX) to one of the parts warehouses who actually do the parts 'un-locking' and ordering...then the parts will be shipped to the warehouse and ultimately to your dealer for your pick-up....but only if you have a US registration for said euro-car. Capise? :slap:

Its not too un-like a 'special order' where your parts come directly from Germany (usually Hannover). In fact, it is a 'special order' request, just happens to be euro-spec parts that correspond to the euro-VIN on the reg.

AMG_Fred 04-17-2006 12:46 PM

Ouch, sorry. Got it. Time to go vin number hunting.

Jim's500E 04-17-2006 04:27 PM

:naughty: :D ich bein:crazy:

Could you post how you make out? I know a few (probably many) dealers that just wouldn't care to go the extra inch to help a customer out like this.
