Here is some detail on how the IAC functions: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...l-voltage.html

If you are having idles problems, check the OVP and the fuse on it. On your car, the IAC power is supplied via the OVP.

Although the above information is good reading, the issue is how do you test the switch and cable and what are the design values!!

The steps are very simple---pin1(blue) is idle, pin 2(brown) is ground, pin 3(green) is full load---in all cases with the ignition off you want the ohm values for pin 1 and pin 2------pin 2 and pin 3 and the cable to be less than 1 ohm---therefore if your values are higher that 1 ohm you either have a bad cable or a bad switch

The prescribed rpms for your 103.985 are as follows-----up to 5/90 650 plus or minus 50-----as of 6/90 700 plus or minus 50

First, I don't know who keeps calling the throttle valve switch an IAC---it is not!!

Second, the over voltage relay is a device that protects the control modules and in your case the relay protects the KE control module which ultimately controls the idle speed----the throttle switch is not a control module and on your model is wired to the KE control and the over voltage protects(max of 22v) the KE control module and all others.

Third, you should know that on your engine model, the air flow sensor also influences idle speeds and sends data to the KE control unit

Fourth, somewhere on your engine you should have an idle speed adjuster.

Please note that on these early models there are so many setups/by country that you have to be careful not to be too specific because of all the changes.
