18's? Width?

I've searched the forums...and came up short with an answer.

I'm going to be purchasing some 18 inch wheels soon, not sure on which ones yet. But my question is, whats the widest I can go without rubbing on the front or rear. Is it possible to have 18x8 (maybe 8.5) up front and 18x9 (maybe 9.5) in the rear? And If I end up with 18x8...whats the widest tire i can put on it...225/40/18?

ZedStyle Sep 20, 2007 02:35 PM

18x8, 224/40/18, ET35

no fuss no muss

224's FTW! :rolf:

18x8....although accroding to the tire rack, we could go 18x8.5 all around.

:word:

Safest size choice....shouldn't have any interference problems with stock or about a 1.5" ride height drop :y

So that 18x8, 224/40/18 will work even with H&R sports and Bilstein HDs?

yes, 18x8, 225/40/18 should be fine with 35 offset... look at zorro's car, and he doesn't even have the fenders rolled...

STLe320 Sep 20, 2007 05:34 PM

haha i was wondering about the whole 224 thing :rolf:

yeah, i plan to get H&R's from tirerack soon...so it will still be good with lowered stance?

rooney is selling his h&r's, you might be able to save a couple of hundred bucks if you buy his... put that towards rims or something

ZorroAMG Sep 20, 2007 05:56 PM

225 40 18's on 18x8 ET35 for you mere mortals.

215 40 18's on 18x8 ET 35 if you are as low as me. No fender rolls, nothing. Rock it like the casbah.

Lorinser880 Sep 21, 2007 06:24 AM

Widest size for the front is 18x8, rear 18x8.5 (ET44). Minimum offset should be ET35, better if you can get an ET44 offset, 225/40's will work great, lowered or stock. On broken sets, 245's for the rear will be no problem.

Brett

18X8 ET35 with 225/40-18 present no interference problems with a 1.5" drop.
This is what I am running.

my first set of wheels were 44 offset and they wouldn't bolt up to the front hubs because the back of the wheel was contacting the caliper. it probably had a lot to do with the design of the back of the wheel, but something to keep in mind

Zed, What brand were they?

STLe320, like what RBYCC said you can run 225/40's up front on 18x8's. But if you have a choice get a higher offset just to be safe. For the rear, 18x8.5's with 235 or 245 would fit, would just depend on the brand you're getting. Choose the brand with a flat sidewall.
By the way, if you're planning to get 8.5's for the rear, you have to get a broken set, 7.5 fronts & 8.5 rears, since 8.5 all-around would be no-no.
Good luck

they were the replica mono 2's. pi$$ed me off too, it took me weeks to get them, and find time to mount them. and then hours to jack up each corner with the factory jack and replace all 4 wheels before realizing the effing car wouldn't move, and then undoing it all until 3am. and then months to try and sell them so i could get another set of wheels. it upsets me just thinking about it... wheels pi$$ me off, f**k wheels man, for real.
