yeah, most cars never meet their reserve and aren't sold on ebay. I tracked probably 25 of 'em.

How do you know if you dno't know the mileage of the car he's selling?

rivcal4life 11-07-2007 07:39 PM

That one that he's talking about on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...spagenameZWDVW

has a few problems but someone definitely got a deal. If I had the money....

1994 e500...with goodies > 1993 500e...with no goodies

hanknum 11-08-2007 02:05 AM

I watched that one...I don't think there was a reserve, so it sold to the highest bidder.

I think it had about 155k on it and had some issues. The seller seemed to upfront with them. Also had some dings and scratches.

Brian McL 11-08-2007 10:14 AM

There was NO reseve on that car...like the highest bidder got it..warts and all..at a bargain price. Of course, the car may have lottsa issues. I called to get some info from the build tag on the car and the salesman said it just went for an inspection. So, it would seem the inspection report wasn't "glowing" 'cause that car should be worth at least $10 on a bad day!! Realistically, an average 500E it's worth $12 -$14,000. They just aren't getting the prices everybody thinks they should. The Porsche connection isn't worth that much..I guess :nix: Right know the best bet out there in a V8 has to be the 400E in the W124. Like $2-3,000. WOW

oneill_1 11-10-2007 07:38 PM

well, there are some ebay links in the 7th thread, and my personal phone number.... that should be enough for anyone looking for an E500.

Sorry, I can't relax. He's selling a 20 thousand dollar car, not a box of cookies.

ZorroAMG 11-12-2007 03:50 PM

Well, it's his perogative if he wants to sell it properly, is it not? No need to get your panties in a bunch.

ohlord 11-12-2007 04:12 PM

In good

condition the market is about 8-10 k with low miles under 50tho maybe 10k private party. What makes this one be 8grand over market? You could buy a 2000 E55 AMG and have change left over.
ohlord:bow:

ZedStyle 11-12-2007 04:23 PM

he's selling it for NADA, where do you get 10k from? AMG's are a dime a dozen now, this is an ACTUAL rare performance mercedes sedan... not to mention in the condition it's in plus upgrades...

2PHAST 11-12-2007 05:05 PM

Haha, you will never get a 500e/e500 with under 50,000 for 8-10 grand, your dreaming. You can't even get a 200k example for under 10 grand.

ZorroAMG 11-12-2007 06:59 PM

Exactly...market value is different than book value. Market value is real, book value is a guide and that's all.

I will get 10K CAD when I sell my 300E cause it looks hot and some buyers want that over a stock 300E for 3k. That's the market.....

ohlord:bow:

if someone wanted a SLOWER E class, than they would buy a 2000 E55.

apparently you don't know the Mercedes market. do some learningfirst, then post on what a benz is worth.

the thing about rare mercedes, is that they have a different market, in the since of someone "looking for an early 90's E-class" is going to be willing to spend 6ish on a good 124. someone LOOKING for a 500E/E500 is going to be willing to spend 13-30 on one. its a different market. id be willing to put money down, that in the next 5-10 years a sub 100Kmile clean 124 E500 with be in the high 20's

you could be selling a F430 for 100K, and get offers for 95- the right buyer will jump on my price. I payed a lot for the E5 because i new what it was. its a selective market..... in return, if someone is looking for one, all they need is my phone number.

you have a nice car, but if the 'real' market value of yours is more than his rennteched 500E with under 100k miles, then the end of the world is surely upon us.
