chrome Monoblock I's
 

Guys. I found a set of chrome original AMG Monoblock I's 17X8 et 28mm for sale locally. The rims are in awesome shape but are chrome. Do you think they would look good on a black W124 or is it too blingy in chrome?

Chrome would look good in 17".

18" would look too blingy because they're larger.

Wait...the offset is 28?

Too blingy. That's just my opinion (I'm not a fan of chrome). But those rims are so hard to find that it might be worth your money to get them de-chromed and powdercoated. That would definitely not be cheap, but it's an option.

EDIT: although you might run into trouble because the center caps for those rims are very difficult to find (and these would have a chrome finish on them). So you'd probably have to go through a separate process to strip the finish off of the plastic center caps.

This is what they look like. Ironically, the AMG Hammer featured in this article had chrome Monoblock I on it. Yes 28mm was the AMG approved offset for the W124 back in the day, but I think they recommended fender rolling.

i'nm with bigpete, if there's a way to cost-effectively de-chrome them, that would be the way to go!

They would be too retro for your more modern ride. But they are cool nonetheless.

Sorry, I think the only thing that was blinkin' crazy was him.

YNV was right, he was NOT on a public forum and was NOT entitled to say whatever he wanted without respect for others.

HE brought up being raised as asian, by asian parents, as some sort of specious arguement to exonerate his behaviour, and then was angry that he and his parents were criticised.

He only posted to appear cool, and though he said he could speak three languages, he had nothing intelligent to say in any of them.

Hats off to those who called him on his behaviour and disregard for others - his only response was to hurl personal insults and namecall.

I suppose we could turn the other cheek, but why extend our hospitality to someone who abuses it?
