Well Rio, that bugger has more miles on it than the space shuttle. Maybe another daily driver will keep you mobile without the looming grief of a high mile, expensive to maintain, car inviting downtime.

Good Luck

Sorry to hear, Rio.

You have done much to keep one more beloved '24 Benz on the road.

Perhaps you can find an overlooked bargain W124, in reasonable shape with less miles for not too much $$$ ?

Good luck on whatever you choose to do.

The government will give you $500 to help with repairs, or $1000 to scrap it. Not $2k.

What was the exact reason for not passing? Gascap? or actual levels? I had a new cat put in so my levels would be good, and slipped the guy an extra $20 to ignore my gascap and bypassed smog-pump.

$100 for the new cat and $70 to do the smog. not too terrible.

actual levels is my problem for the 1st test for hc? it was 778 for co it was fine i was well under that but for the last one i maked out at 1800 something
it was pritty bad and the cat and o2 on my car are new as of 1 year ago i had a mb tech take a look he thinks i have blow by and that is just to much money for me i think it is my cat or o2 there is no smoke so it cant be blow by

my pay checks are only 260 a week and the government takes out 60 something and the local w203 or what ever they want to call it takes out 30 bucks leaving me with not much left over most of that goes to gas and food for the week i wish it was some thing simpal to fix on my car but it is not

they also pulled my past smog and for the last 8 years my car got gross poluter CANT SPELL sorry this time it was no where near as bad but still bad
i might get more cash if i sell it my self the car has alot of life left in it i did a sick burn out to night and got up to 130 in no time flat the car has alot of life left in it but im going to sell it

If I'm reading this right, you hit 130 after a burn out. You are going to have a lot more than emissions problems if you keep doing burn outs.

Drive till your on "R" (gas level) then buy a gallon of methanol at a hardware store and dump it into your gas tank. Take a spirited drive to the emissions inspection and have fun passing.

Very Slow Mercedes
Those aftermarket converters are not very efficient,on a very good running 300e/260e I normally install 2 of them back to back to match the efficiency of the stock Benz converters...what are your actual reading co,nox,co2,hc,o2? maybe I can point you in the right direction
