Fuel pump problem on 90 300E

My SA told me that 1 of fuel pumps is pushing almost no pressure and the other 1 is at or below spec. He quoted me a price of $1063+tax. Any alternatives or is the dealer my best option?

Good look Saijin. Do you know a good indy mechanic that will install once I order the part. I work in Wayne/Totowa area and I usually service at Globe in Fairfield or Morristown MB. Any help is appreciated.

No problem man. There should be a few in there that are actually OEM Bosch for a reasonable price.

As for Indie mechanics, I don't really have any recommendations :C

I bought my fuel pumps from discountmbparts.com. 130 bucks a piece. Not bad. Finally have these fuel pumps installed and it turns over now. Glad I got it running. Now it hesitates when it idles. It actually stopped on me once when I drove it home from the shop but it started up again. Lukewarm news. I suspect I need spark plugs. I might as well get distributor cap and rotor while I am at it. Still in progress on this. What more could it be?

Possibly plug wires, OVP. Have you checked OVP and ignition wires?

Angry Un freakin' believable

I finally have this situation resolved. I took it to an indy In Rockaway, NJ that knows Benz like the back of his hand. He worked for a dealer for 22 years. Anyway, he performed a fuel system analysis to determine that it wasn't the problem. Just great!! I threw parts at the problem. Even had him install a new OVP So he ran a test on my plugs. And what do you know? I needed new plugs. Damn stealership wanted me to throw more parts at it Anyway, I am rollin' again. to my indy. He gets my business.
