Car is stalling & I'm out of options...
Last weekend the car died as soon as I turned it on. So assuming it had something to do with the OVP, I pulled it out and the car started and drove fine, it didn't die. In the morning or anyother time I have to start the car "cold," I have to put the OVP back in. The car won't start cold without the OVP. After driving for a little bit on Monday, Tuesday and today, I have to stop the car, open the hood, and remove the OVP so it doesn't die on turns or at stops. Every time it dies im sitting still or making a turn. So today I bought a new OVP. It seemed to run better than fine, except around 6:30PM (about 4 hours later) the car died again at idle with the new OVP in. I am so confused and was wondering if you guys have any other hints...

Could be intermittent suupply of fuel. Check the fuel pump relay.
I had the same problem, and that solved it. A lean condition could also cause the stall. |
I'm not sure of which year 124 you have but is it new enough where you can access the trouble codes and see if the computer has stored anything?

I know most of the w124 guys including me have this problem.....well i finally bit the bullet and brought my car into a stealership, from what i was told that it is the engine wiring harness, it eroded down to the wire, i didnt really take a look at it but i didnt care, i wanted my car fixed, so there you go.....that what i got from the dealership, also im changing 2 engine mounts and a tranmission flex disc or something like that, im broke, but my car will work again......any comments??? it would be very helpful.....

I'm having the same problem with my car stalling... I bought an OV relay and tried that.. (didn't work) Then they said it's the fuel pump relay... (didn't work) so maybe I should check the wiring harness.. could someone tell me where this is located..
Or maybe someone has another opinion... thanks, Gina |
I had the stalling problem. There were many codes displayed. After changing the wiring harness all is well.
