Oil Leaking from Transmission & Air Con

Oil Leaking from Transmission & Air Con
I just took the car to a mechanic for 2 leaks.
1. Between the engine and gearbox. There is a tiny leak and tranny oil is accumulating at the bottom. It doesn't seem to drip though.
The mechanic said that it's something where a pump or but it isn't worth fixing as the car is 17yo almost and will need new seals etc to the gearbox soon. What does this sound like?
2. He said it's leaking oil from the A/C compressor or something. What can this be? He said the compressor is strong though
Any help is appreciated, and also the urgency of needing to fix these items would be appreciated. From what I gathered the gearbox can wait, but the A/C should be fixed soon
