what is this thing called

so i was driving my car yesterday and before i reach my destination
i noticed there was a knocking noise coming from the engine compartment and the the idle started to be shaky abit

then i opened the hood
to check for any abnormal things . i noticed there are
a small wire which has been Slashed into two pieces

just wanted to know what does this thing called, does it cause this kind of symptoms and is it an easy DIY replace

What you appear to have marked is a vacuum hose. Check this page to see if you can find and highlight what it actually is if it isn't a vacuum line coming out of that pressure switch. http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/M104WireHarness
