brake pad wear indicator light question

Hi,
I have a 1993 400e mb.
My brake pad wear indicator light just went on today. Does anyone know how much longer my brakes could last? The reason I'm asking is because I go to school far away from where I usually take my car to get serviced and am only near the service place over the weekends. Could my brakes last another week till next weekend? Or should I not risk it and try to find another way to get to school. I'd appreciate any advice. thanks.

Take it easy

Take it easy and keep the millage down. You should be OK till the weekend.

Pads arn't too hard to change anyway. So you might want to have a go yourself?

thanks for the quick response.

I'm not very car knowledgeable, so I prefer not to try on my own for free of messing things up.

mileage wise, I will be forced to drive about 150 miles from now till next weekend. Gonna hope the brakes will be ok for that many miles...any ideas?

No problem for 200-500 miles. Changing pads any Midas, Pit Stop, or else can do, you dont need a MB-shop and saves you a few bucks too.

I can fax you set-by-step brake pad change out on a W124 with pics...its easy and can be done with regular tools...make sure you replace the wear indicators too...they are cheap from the dealer.

These are the thicknesses specified from the manual:
11mm thick new
2.5mm contacts the sensors
2 mm discard thickness

If you know how many miles have been put on these pads, then all you have to do is the math.
