Ugh! I will get everything restored on the car except for one part, an interior piece of plastic called a Fabric Retaining bow.

I would source a prototype of it if there was a cad drawing available, but their isn't according to the classic center. So sad.

When I take it off the car it will be in four pieces, and it is missing two ends already so it not a good candidate for a re pop.

Maybe one of you out there is Santa Claus and can check deep into your toy bag to see if one is lingering on a shelf somewhere?

Thanks.

Bob -

Try giving these guys a call: www.mercedespartscenter.com. The part number 124 770 02 80 pulls up a price and description, so who knows, they may actually have one somewhere in their network.

Flooby!
Just did, bookmarked the page and will contact them tomorrow. Thanks so much for the lead, even if it doesn't pan out. Cheers, Bob

1994 E320 Cabriolet, 1995 e320 Wagon
part # 124-770-02-80, Inner Liner, Headliner, rear bow. 1993 - 1995 300CE - E320 Cab

MB 3D Printed MB part

part # 124-770-02-80, Inner Liner, Headliner, rear bow. 1993 - 1995 300CE - E320 Cabriolet

I had the same issues finding a replacement. So I had my part reverse engineered and 3D printed with black ABS plastic, the same material as the original. It worked perfectly! The finish on the part is not exactly like the original as the 3D printer leaves its own texture and the black color is not an exact match.

I had them create the part thicker (on the back side) than the original to make it stronger, though the dimensions and fit are perfect. It was printed in three sections and assembled... as to print as one piece was 800% more expensive. I could have sanded the part, filled in the small seams and painted for a near perfect match. But the printed part looked plenty good enough for me.

I paid big money for the part to be 3D scanned and the model created. The prints are also quite expensive... about 300% more than the original cost from MB. But, at least you can save the cost of scanning and reverse-engineering. If anyone needs one and wants one printed, I can have the company print one for you. Cost: $600 + shipping. Pics of the printed part and 3D model included. Lead time is about 7-days to have the part shipped. (It requires almost 8-hrs to print)

Notes:
-The rubber piece for the back in not included and must be supplied by the user. If that is not available, a small strip of foam can be used.

-Neither the metal grommet inserts for the screw holes nor the screws are included and must be supplied by the user. If these are not available, screws alone can be safely used, as long as they are not tightened down too much.
