95' E320 & the Metra 70-1784 stereo adapter
I'm installing a Kenwood KDC-BT318U receiver and using the Metra 70-1784 wiring harness adapter. Some instructions came with it from Crutchfield but I know there's more to it than straight plug & play. Red 7 yellow wire swap? Blue & blue/white wire connected together?
Also I guess the smaller of the two original connectors is left disconnected and none of it's wires are used, and the little single wire in the lower center if left disconnected (code set wire?). Are these correct "***-umptions"?
If I can get clarification n these I'll be set to wrap it up.
Now my question is does the metal jacket that comes with the Kenwood receiver (most any new receiver for that matter) supposed to fit in the now empty original radio slot without modification?
Last night prior to being chased inside by the skeeters, my initial attempt at sliding the new receiver in the slot didn't go well, almost like it it's not supposed to. I didn't push the issue and decided to be patient and research some more of whether it does or does not get used. If not, then what's the guidance? I don't see how it would lock in without it. When I get home later barring getting good gouge, I'm gonna fuss with it some more.
