Car Stalling Frequently
The car has a new OVP.
It seems to stall when coming to a stop, or making a turn going slowly or while decellerating and turning. The problem is slowly getting worse. The engine idles at 550RPM while idle in "D" and when the car does stall, the engine seems to all of a sudden give up. Sometimes it recovers and the engine will surge to about 1k rpm, but usually now it just dies.
After the repairs at the dealership, the car worked fine, no stalling, but now about two months later, the problem has returned.
I, and I think most people with this problem, don't have the resources to keep replacing parts. Anyone out there no what this is? Any help would be appreciated. I am taking this car to the dealership, and they aren't exactly focused on saving me money.
Thanks!!!
Any indie MB shops in your area?
And it does seem to be the case that as long as I let the car slow down slowy, it is ok. I noticed if I drive around in first, the car will surge sometimes, trying to recover from an almost stall.
It sounds like that Idle Control Valve is gone. I'm going to confirm this at the dealership on Monday.
Thanks so much for your help guys!
first the dealer swaped out the engine electrical harness, then i still had that problem, then i changed the throttle actuator, that seemed to fix the problem....
what hurt me the most was the over 4k bill......thats why im keeping my w124 forever!!!!

In 6 months or so I'll be selling my 300E, and I will replace the ICV before I sell it. I don't want to sell a car that stalls frequently.
Do you know how much it would be to install (labor only - I have a place to get the part for $170)?
Thanks again!

I think my car has the same problem 93 300E w/93k Miles... when you start it and it's cold... it idles really loopy and once warmed up it'll idle around 550 and belch out black smoke and will stall out and just keeps doing it... Any Suggestions?

Check simple things under the hood like disconnected vacuum lines or broken ones and check the arrow on the MAF to make sure its pointing in the right direction.
Do you smell fuel?

Black smoke usually means to much fuel (running rich).
