Replacing the orginal O2 sensor with a Wideband Sensor

Hi
My 93" E280 has a defective O2 sensor, but i had a wideband extra so I installed that instead of buying a new narrowband.
There is a simulated narrowband cable on it which i connected to the green cable in the car. Should work ok.
But when i connect the diag it shows an error that it can`t find the heater coil. I am planning to connect a resistance there so I think i have that covered.
But according to the diagram there are two wires to the sensor, on ground and on "signal". Do I need to connect the blu\grn cable on pin 1 to ground?

What is your VIN!!

I can appreciate your desire to have more finite control over the air fuel ratio and use a wide band O2 sensor----However the issue is how do you know that the ECU has been mapped to accept more discrete data from the sensor, because if not you have just put a gold door knob on a door that will not open!!

I had no desire to buy a new orginal sensor when I had one that could work not being used.
As I use the narrowband outsignal the engine should not know the differance.

Anyway, I connected the cable to ground and a 21W lampon the heater circuit and it seems to work ok. The error is gone and the hfmscan program shows the AFR ok.
