300E 4MATIC trans swap
Hey everybody. So I just made an impulse decision to buy a 1992 300E 4MATIC for $400. I currently own an '89 300e that doesnt really run and I really missed the feel of driving the solid W124 so I figured what the heck, hard to go wrong when its $400. So the '92 is super nice inside (9.5/10) even though its got 240K on the odometer and the 4Matic light didnt come on when I was checking it out but reverse doesn't work on it. Actually neither does 4Matic... So I was wondering, doesnt anyone know If I can swap then trans from my '89 to the '92? Is it the same thing? where exactly does the transfer case connect to the drive line? Also I noticed that the 4Matic doesn't work and the dash bulb doesn't light up (bulb is good), any idea why that could be? The engine is producing probably no more than 90 HP at the moment too, extremely hard cold starts but good when warmed up. Sorry, I know this post is a bit jumbly and non linear but I'm a bit too tired to properly transfer my thoughts to text. Hope you guys can help.

Out Of Control!!
The 89 is a bad VIN
The 92 4matic has a 722.342 transmission and a 124 410 33 19 drive shaft with a 1:307 differential 124 350 14 39.
Bad information--can't answer the question correctly!!

Try WDBEAB0D5KA821100. I really doubt both have have the same trans spec. I might have to move some of the 4-matic components to the donor trans. Main thing is the actual trans is the same.

FYI the second B in the VIN is a 3 repeat a 3-----
821100 is a 722.358 with a different drive shaft however the diff ratios are the same---my uneducated guess is it aint a plug and play and if it were me I would pass and spend time at the beach with the girlfriend!!
