Shaky / Wobbly Armrest ??

Hi gang,

I remember when the w124s first came out --- I was so impressed with the w124 compared to a majority of the stuff that was plying the roads at the time in my midwestern town --- I remember roads full of Chevy Celebrities, Luminas, Ford LTD / Taurus, etc.

So I finally acquired a w124 of my own --- many years later! a 63K mile 500E!

I have a question about the armrest--- is this shakiness normal? Note that the wobbling seems to occur only when the armrest is folded down, and not so much when it is folded up. It almost seems like the base in the seat that the armrest is attached to is flexing?

Many thanks

Congrats on your E500 purchase, a great car.

As for the shakiness, depending on how the previous owners have used, this seems like a simple thing to fix. Yes, it seems to rattle more than normal. Things need fixing, being an old car as such. I can give you a whole list of things my E60 has undergone so far after owning her for two decades.

Thank you! Do you know if this is an armrest issue that requires parts in the arm rest, or if it is seat frame issue that somehow requires reinforcement of the frame?

Sounds more like the parts in the armrest (?).
