Also which would be the next best mod? Euro-lights with Clear corners/Custom cold air intake/ Remux Exchaust/ or..new front/rear bumper?? Thnx for feedback!

im not feelin the two tone exterior. I'd pait it all black and slap on some clear corners and thats it. The body kit and exhaust would be next.

Holson 06-27-2004 11:53 PM

The single color look would be really nice, but make sure it's done correctly.

The only thing I like about the grey plastic is that it hides dirt, water, etc. splashed up by the tires..

Euro headlights would really sharpen the front of the car, not to mention being able to see better.

an avantgarde grill will also help update the front when you upgrade to euros. just my 0.2 cents.

Keep the 2-tone

Although I would like a monochromatic paint scheme, I wouldn’t change the original paint. Most of us prefer that the car body has not been repainted. I also think Holson is right about keeping the car looking clean. The gray must be easier to keep clean, especially on the lower part of the car.

Euro lights are by far the most important upgrade. Those plastic lenses usually look horrible. The new lights really clean up the front of the car and you can see much better at night.

I would paint the grille insert black. Most of the new grilles are cheap junk that have no business on a car like ours. I tried two different vendors and both were junk and both were partially broken in shipping. The original insert is far better quality. Just paint it black.

did we decide because it's a 4-matic it can't be lowered? if that isn't the case hten i would say drop it an inch or two...

ksing44 06-28-2004 09:22 AM

Snow machine

That 4-matic is sky high. It really does look like a 4 x 4 truck sitting up like that. I bet it can really go in the snow. It would be fun to install Bridgstone Blizzaks and go blasting around in some heavy snow.

Paint the bottom rocker panels to fit. Drop it & get exhaust.
No need to get cold air intake when W124's come stock with it. Take a look under your hood, doesn't get better than that. Those wannabe cold air intakes on EBAy are JUNK !!!! Trying to prey on unknowing Fastn Furious posers . You have a Benz not a Honda.

Thnx alot again

Stove Paint worked for me

I used black stove paint that I had laying around for painting my barbecue grille and my woodstove, but I am not sure you really need heat resistant paint, because it really doesn’t get all that hot. I did not use any kind of clear coat and I didn’t use special paint for plastic. It has been about 6 months since I painted my grille and so far there are no chips or any problems with the paint. I think it is important not to use too much paint, because the chrome strips have to slide on the narrow grooves after the grille is painted. I used two light coats of the stove paint and I did absolutely no preparation before I painted the grille. The insert had no oily residue and it seemed porous enough to accept the paint without any prep. I figured if it got all messed up, it would be easy and inexpensive to just get another OEM insert. It still looks like the day I painted it.

coo sounds good...im gonna get some masking tape and mask around the chrome parts...dun really wanna take the insert out...i think that would be fine...maybe after i get some more cash ill paint the chrome black too

Remove the Grille

Don’t try to paint the grille with it still mounted in the hood. It is VERY easy to remove the grille and the chrome strips slide right off of the insert after the grille is removed. It must be easy, because I was able to do it and I am definitely not a DIY when it comes to car repairs.

FiFth_StreetZ 06-29-2004 01:23 PM

how do i remove the grille?? is it held on by screws or summthin?

FiFth_StreetZ 06-29-2004 07:24 PM

thnnxx, these wheels were off a 2001 E430, the size is 17x7.5 with a offset of 37mm, perfect fit no rubbing at all. The tires and size im using are Pirreli Supersport P7000 234/45/17...never get these tires...one of them has 25k miles on them and it is loud as hell...sounds like i am running on a flat.
