New guy here 300D


Hello everyone, just picked this pig up at auction. Popped the hood to see this.... are these necessary in these cars or can I just cut the strings and toss it?

Also, the low washer light stays on, with plenty of fluid. I removed what I assumed was the float sensor, and shook it around a bunch, it moves... maybe just bad sensor?

I'm sure I'll have move questions, as I've never owned anything like this lol

I'd keep the oem red string in place. They're nla from MB.
It keeps the hood insulation from falling off.
If you do find another, grab them as spares, just in case.

Thanks! And yeah I've only seen purple string so I figured pink was more rare.
