1989 300E tuning

i own a 1989 300E (non-deisel) and i was wondering what kind of tune ups can i do to it (wheels, exhaust, interior, chip, performance upgrades, etc...).
my last question is, is it possible to change a 300E to a manual from automatic?
thanks

E320 Best Car Ever Made

IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO BUY ANOTHER 89-95 BENZ, THAN GO THREW ALL THAT TROUBLE.

How much do you want to spend it total? That is the most important thing to consider.

You can easily spend more money modifying your car than what it is worth and sometimes it can be cheaper to sell your car and by something that already has most of what you are looking for. Example is some people want to put a turbocharger in their 300e which ends up costing them more than buying a 500e which will ultimately have more horesepower, more refinement and balance, will always have a great market resale value and is engineered by Porsche/Mercedes which is hard to match by tuning a car by yourself.

91 300E
yeah man I had inherited the '91 300E (125,000) from the family and put some wheels on it and had thought about some upgrades when i realized i should just buy a 500E. In fact low mileage cars are not that rare.... 15,000-40,000 mi go for $25,000-$30,000 range 50-60,000 go for low 20's and 150,000 mileage examples go for $16,000 or so.

I'm probably going to be looking to replace this car early next year.

well im looking to put no more than 2,000$ so i dont know if i want to just change the suspension because my dad is putting his stock 17 inch AMG tires on the 300E. So im trying to decide between suspension or maybe the cheapest way to get power under 2000$

"So im trying to decide between suspension or maybe the cheapest way to get power under 2000$"

Springs = $300-400
K-mac camber kit = $300-400
Shocks = $700-900
Pads = $40
4 wheel alignment = $100-200
Labor = $300-500

$2,000 is just about right for the suspension alone.

If you want more power, you'd be better off getting an E400 or E500.

Try Ebay although for under $11,000 I don't think the car (E500 or E420) will be in prestine shape. BTW your friend is right work on a 8cylinder is expensive. I remember reading a post here (or at another forum) where someone was installing a turbo on thier E300. You can do a search on it if you insist on improving the performance.

As I already suggested, for $2,000 work on your suspension. Lower your car and install your dad's 17" AMG.
