Renewed appreciation for my 300E
I don't post much around here but I've had my 300E for about a year now. Prior to this I was leasing a C280 which I no longer own b/c of speeding tickets. 
I have relaxed my driving style now w/ the 300E because I don't want to f-ck it up since my engine burns oil. Recently though I was in a situation where I had to go to Toronto (140 miles away) and I needed to get there in an hour. I was a bit nervous about the drive but by the end of the trip I was so impressed that it motivated me to post this. I made it to my destination in an hour and 20 minutes 
The car has 150K miles on it and the engine was at about 5g's most of the way and performed flawlessly. I'm almost speechless about the whole thing, but I'm so impressed that I look at the car differently now.
Anyway, I'm done now.

Good to hear! I share the same sentiments for the W124's long distance cruising ability. It's really amazing just how well composed it is 
BTW, if you had got a 400E/500E - your speeding ticket situation would probably be the same.. or worse - lovely engines for highway cruising
