Boost Car's Performance
 

I have a '98 E320 4Matic and want to enhance my car's power performance without breaking the bank. Any suggestions?

For more HP, sell your E320 and buy an E430 or E55. The E430 was available with 4matic starting in 2001. You can buy a performance ECU chip for your 320 for less than $1k that will give you a few extra HP, but I'm personally not convinced it does anything good for the longevity of your motor. Replacing your spark plugs & air filter may improve performance if these items are worn. You can buy a performance exhaust system, but they usually give up low end torque for high RPM power.

For better handling, replace any worn suspension rubber and swap out the stock rims/tires for 17" 235/45/17 or 18" 235/40/18. It's tough to find suspension mods on the 4Matic b/c of the unique front suspension (front axle shaft runs through the coil spring).
