'00 Mirror shell removal
How do you remove the mirror shell? The '00 mirror has the blinker repeater in the mirror. The driver's side LED repeater stopped working. I was able to remove the mirror glass and then was able to unplug the LED repeater. The problem was a connection between the plug and the repeater. The plug has a positive lock that wasn't in place. I found that I couldn't get the lock in place either because the mirror shell does not allow the lock to be positioned correctly. The repeater now works but I fear it will vibrate loose again and not work. I could not see what keeps the mirror shell in place after I removed the mirror glass. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the link. That sure makes it look easy. The '00 LED repeater is screwed into the shell so the mirror glass will still have to be removed first and then the repeater unscrewed prior to unhooking the shell.

Ok, I am home from working out of town all week and tried to follow the edsoto video to remove the mirror shell. The 2000 facelift changed the shell and the method of fastening. There is no wire to lift. There seems to be a metal tab in the location where the wire used to be but it doesn't lift or depress. For those of us with 2000-2002 W210s, an updated video sure would be nice.
