another AC thread - but read, important to all

as i understand, the REST button can be used to access various codes - one of which being the pressure of the AC system. would that be the same, basically, as the amount of freon in the line? if so, what is considered low? i'd like to check this myself before going into the shop and having them run the "summer AC special" for 99 bucks or whatever. my AC is good - not great, so i doubt i have any major leaks. if anybody knows what number would be considered "full" i'd appreciate the 411.

The pressure will be a LOT different on a hot and a cold day.
Without the AC on .. mine has 4 Bar.
When its running on a warm day.. its up to 14Bar.
All between that is normal..(for me) and my system is just filled.

Remember that your coolant is R134a, the replacement for Freon. One problem with this crap is that unlike R12, if you lose only a slight amount of pressure, it stops being effective. R12 would keep on working as long as any of it remained in the system.

Your system shouldn't be leaking at all. You can either have it replaced via the 99 dollar special or have a more thorough dye test to determine leaks. I had the 99 dollar special which lasted all of four days. After that, I had to have the dealer introduce a dye, correct the leak, and refill the system.

I'll tell ya'll what, when code number 7 on the climate control hit's 30, the compressor automatically shuts off as the pressure is too high. Mine now reads in the mid-low teen's. The highest ranges in the upper teen's when the AC is first activated....
