Driver's Side Headlight issue

When I start my '98 E-Class both lights come on at first. After about 15 seconds the driver's side light goes out. These are HID's, has anyone experienced anything like this? I've checked the fuse and it is fine.

swap bulbs L < > R. if problem stays with driver side, i'd started zeroing on
driver side ballast...connections on that side...

Swapped the bulbs, same problem. Must be the driver's side ballast.
