Sound right or not? Need advice...

So I bring my car (97e420) in this morning to Smythe Mercedes Benz on Stevens Creek to check on the vibration I have when I put on "D" and also the clicking noise coming out from the seat. After going for a test drive. The advisor tell me that it would cost me at least 300 dollars just to look into that problem. I though this is a little too much but just want to see what everybody think? Thanks and appreciated for any input.

Update>>>

So I got a call yesterday from the dealer. They say that it will cost about $3200.00 to fix the vibration. They will have to replace the engine mount and also the control arm bushing. Too bad this is not cover under my extended warranty with Herritage cuz it had to do with wear and tear. I"m not sure but is this something that worn out over time. I'm thinking to bring the car to a regular repair shop and get a second opinion.

Had any of you have this problem before?

I had a motor mount and a bushing replaced in another car years ago, but it came to more like 300 than 3000. What a rip!

Since the parts are virtually nothing, are they saying it will take over 30 hours to fix it at shop rates?

What?? its only cost you 300, what car did you have it fix. That how much it cost me for them to take a look into it and find out the problem. I'm thinking to get an estimate somewhere else. One thing I know that the shop I been going to is ripping me off and is this the last time i'm taking my car there. To think about it the services they give me is worst than my Acura dealer.

I'm pretty sure for our car is going to be more. Just have to find a good private shop around my area.

Of course, they get you for every nut and bolt. I'd say, figure half of what the dealer wants if you go independant. But thats still way too much. Unless they designed so you have to crawl through the exhaust system to get to it.

All of them, as much as I can...
I had motor and tranny mounts replaced on a '89560SL after a parking attendant put the car into "2" after revving it to 4000RPM! It developed the same groaning vibration when starting out in "D". My dealer fixed it (no warranties in place) for $1600.
I say check it out with an independent eurotuner shop. Good luck.
