Trunk doesn't open with remote..????

after getting the car back after 10 months....the battery was dead so i had to change it......but it seems that from my remote i can close the sunroof by the remote but i can't pop the truck by pressing the unlock buttom once and then pressing and holding........it would work before but not now, does it need to be reprogramed?

dumb question, but did you check to see if you locked the trunck with the key? My understanding is that if you did, it will not open with the remote.

no, it locks and opens by remote but it doesn't do that feature where if you hit the remote button twice it can pop the truck without you opening it yourself, kinda like a handfree deal....

How much aftermarket stuff is mounted on your trunk lid? Mine is layered with dynomat, and that was enough weight to keep the trunk from opening with the remote.

Reprogramming

That sounds like a possibility, but the 1st thing I would do is to see if your owner's manual has any trouble-shooting tips. If everything other than the hands-free trunk opener works, and if all other suggestions offered here fail, take it to a good indy shop or a trusted dealer.

BTW, I have that feature, but can't remember if I just held the button down or pressed it twice (I use it infrequently). I'll try that later, now that you have mentioned it.

Good luck,
M

I just hit (once) the lower right button for this (the top button being the alarm arming/disarming, and the lower left being the unlock)...isn't it the same for facelift W210's too? .

Hey,Whitey is that your girl or is she just a model mooonlighting for moolah???

This might be a dumb suggestion but...

Is it making a popping noise when you hit the button? Mine sticks shut if not opened frequently, so I have to push it up by hand and break the rubber seal.

Also, if your remote battery is getting weak, the trunk will fail to respond.

i have the brain cadena lip spolier on the truck but it's light....the remote switch seems to be broken, bodyshop prob tossed it around cause it's falling apart..........i need to check my spare key and test it out.....

I just tried it, and I have to hold the lower right button for 2-3 seconds for the trunk to open "automatically". I guess we have slightly different features, but the rest of my buttons are in the same places as yours.

Try changing the batteries like RBrenton suggested - I bought a pair at the WalMart watch/jewelry counter for $5.95 the other day. I think my dealer charged me quite a bit more ;)
